Admirals Play Unique, 10-Inning Exhibition Game
By John Glidden
Professional baseball returned to Vallejo, Monday, as the Vallejo Admirals hosted the San Rafael Pacifics in an exhibition game pre-determined to go 10 innings at Wilson Park.
The Admirals began the game stealing everything in sight.
After the top of the ninth, the Admirals lead the Pacifics 5-3, after recording what would have normally been the game’s final out.
However, in the top half of the tenth, Admirals’ pitcher D.J. Gunderson allowed a three run homerun to Troy Zawadzki, to give the Pacifics a 6-5 lead. They tacked on another run before the inning ended.
I can’t tell you how psyched we are here at Ozcat Radio for another season of Admirals baseball. What a hoot!
]]>If you want to create a post like mine for Whirled Hits on the Home page, it can be recycled week to week, or you can post a new one every week. Here’s the basics:
As authors, you can add a post by clicking + New on the black Ribbon Bar at the top of the window (it appears once you are logged in). You can also access the Dashboard by clicking The Ozcat …Connection on the ribbon bar. It will look like this:
If you click on Posts to the left, it will open the All Posts window; if you want to add a new post you can select Add New below Posts in the left-hand drop-down menu, the same as using + New above. Below is the Add Post window (click it to enlarge and read):
Once you Publish your post, you can recycle it next week by going to the Dashboard, then Posts, All Posts, and selecting Quick Edit as below:
From there you can change the date and time, change categories and the like:
Choosing Edit rather than Quick Edit opens it in the editor you saw in the Add Post window.
Let’s keep show posts to a minimum on the front page here. We have a blog that is set up for the individual DJs (though not all the current crop) and once the issues with it are fixed, that’s where every show can have a place to post without restrictions.
]]>Check their site for schedules etc. by clicking their logo above.
]]>We can also create categories for topics, like DJ Stuff and Music Matters in the sidebar. When you post, pick a category. Those two won’t display on the front page, but Uncategorized and Vallejo (the default category) will.
Anyone can comment on any post once its on the site, so conversations can continue for a while, but don’t create a new post on the front page (see the ribbon bar above when you’re logged in) unless you’re on the air and planning to use it. We can also put topic pages (which also allow replies) on the sidebar to the right to cover current hot issues.
Oh, you’ll notice as an author you can add media. [There’s a glitch in the upload folder, so not for now.] Use it to add an image to your post if you want. Videos would have to be stored on our server, and they’re too big, so don’t use them. Still working on embedding MP3s, YouTube and the like. Most of the solutions are a bit buggy.
]]>BTW, this chat on this page only accepts comments from registered user bumped up to Author status—DJs mostly—so we can talk among ourselves. We’ll ultimately password it.
]]>Have comments or questions about the music? Just want to weigh in and get registered on the blog so you can interact with Ozcat Radio? This is the place. Replies to this post will nest below it, and I’ll try to stay on top of it enough to approve everybody’s first post so they don’t have to register again. You can register by using the login link at the top right of the page).
Enjoy the ride!
]]>Welcome to Ozcat Radio’s Vallejo-based chat blog. Feel free to join and join in. In order to keep down the spammers and scammers, this blog is usually moderated, but we’re trying to slip past the bad guys by opening it up to listener registration for a few hours whenever we announce it on the air. If you give us your email address (which we won’t abuse) you’ll be registered and able to comment any time.
This theme is designed for speed and to be entirely keystroke-driven for ease of cell use. Don’t be afraid of the Keyboard Shortcuts link above. There are only a few and they’re well worth learning. Like “L” to login and “R” to reply to a post. Have Fun!
Oh, and this shouldn’t require saying, but does: be civil. Act like the trolls on the Times-Herald blog and you’ll be banned.
]]>Now begins the work, (and FUN!) as we finally get to promote this station. We’ve been hoping and planning for this for a while, so when people ask what we’re going to do with it, well, anyone who has caught the station over the past few years knows pretty much what we’re going to do with it. We’ve been doing it already. Now we get to do it for real, on the air, and we have 3+ years worth of ideas just screaming to be uncorked. It’s our intention to make this a true community radio station for Vallejo. You’re invited to join in and help. We’ll work out how you can do that, but for now, we’re putting some of our plans into action, like this blog. Enjoy it!
